Hey. Hi. Hello.
My name is Laura Relyea* Adams.

*That’s pronounced |rel•yā| or “rel-yay!” depending on your mood or the weather.

First, I made a hobby of words.
Now I’ve made a career out of them.

When you move around a lot as a kid you learn how important words can be. (And how not to mince them.)

With journalistic work published in Oxford American, The Bitter Southerner, Hyperallergic and as a regular correspondent on WABE 90.1’s City Lights, and a featured guest on NPR’s On Second Thought and The Bitter Southerner Podcast–I have extensive experience spinning tales.

Mailchimp, Investopedia, The Balance, The Spruce, The Bitter Southerner, ArtsATL, and Scoutmob have put my editing chops to use.

And I’ve put my brains to brand strategy and copywriting with companies like Mailchimp, Hotel Indigo, Montane Sparkling Spring Water, Callaway Blue, eegee’s, Erik’s DeliCafé, and The Fiery Feather, either independently or with agency clients like Vigor Branding, Blue Sky Agency, and Edgar Allan.

Pretty fun, right?

Copywriting

Articulating your life’s work is no small task. Let me help you put it into words so you can focus on your next chapter. Whether it’s writing the copy for your website, determining your mission statement, or helping develop your company’s unique voice and brand identity, I’m here to help.

Editing

Passive voice there. A comma splice here. Using an editor can help you fine-tune your message and add an extra level of polish. I’ve had the privilege of editing and collaborating with hundreds of other writers over the past ten years. Put my experience to good use.

Fiction

Journalism

Somehow, I’ve managed to write just for the sake of writing, too. For kicks, I publish one fiction work once a month here and on Tiny Letter. See for yourself.

The world around us is fascinating. It’s an honor to help share some really incredible stories of the communities, organizations, and individuals I’ve come across. Here are some highlights

That’s enough about me though. Tell me about you!
